John WOODS; Franklin County Court, 1 January 1810 - Betsy Woods and Robert Woods infant children of John Woods deceased being upwards of fourteen years of age come into court and choose Samuel Hairston for their guardian and the court doth appoint the said Samuel Hairston guardian of Stovall Woods, Samuel Woods, Peter Woods and George Woods infant children of the said John Woods dec. who are under the age of fourteen. - Franklin Court Records page 329. Will

In Col. Samuel HAIRSTON's will dated 4 November 1834, Elizabeth Hairston WOODS was named as an heir; Samuel Hairston left a will dated 7 November 1834 and a codicil dated 8 November 1834. Samuel Hairston also left a second codicil dated 4 November 1834, but I believe the court clerk wrote November instead of December. The will was filed with the Franklin County Court on 5 January 1835. - Franklin County Will Book 4, pages 290-292, FSL 7644995 image 455.⁴

She appeared on the 1850 census of Robert HAIRSTON on 20 December 1850 in Franklin, Virginia; Robert 59, Elizabeth 56, Agnes E J 26, Ruth L 21, Elizabeth F 16, living with a clergyman Robert Grey 30. All born in Virginia.²

She appeared on the 1870 census of Dr. William HAIRSTON on 24 September 1870 in Blackwater, Franklin, Virginia; Hairston, Wm (52 Physician), Prudence D. 43, Elizabeth 26, Ruth 40.⁵
