C. Hairston, on South Third street, when Mr. G. W. Hairston, Jr., of Crawford, and Miss Corinne Patty, of Macon, were married. The ceremony was performed by Rev. R. B. Eggleston, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. The couple motored to this city, having been accompanied by a number of friends. The bride, who is a member of a prominent Noxubee county family, is a most attractive young lady. The groom is a prominent young planter of the southwestern section of the county, being a son of Mr. G. W. Obituary* | Services Held For Mrs. G. W. Hairston Funeral services for Mrs. George W. Hairston were held from Cockrell Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon, October 25, with Rev. L. P. Wasson, the Rev. Gus Shelly and the Rev. H. L. Hathorn officiating. Interment followed in the Crawford Cemetery. Mrs. Hairston passed away on October 23, at St. Joseph Hospital in Meridian. She was 67. The former Corine Patty, Mrs. Hairston was born in Macon on August 18, 1901. Her parents were Robert C. Patty and Rebecca Powell Patty. She was very young when she married George W. Hairston, and from then on, devoted her life to her husband and children. A talented homemaker and a kindly, thoughtful neighbor, Mrs. Hairston was a member of the Crawford Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, George W. Hairston, III of Columbus, and Col. Robert E. Hairston of Miami, Fla; two grandchildren; one great grandchild; and her aunt, Mrs. Mary P. Keirn of West Point. Pallbearers were Hayes Cade, Lamar Hairston, Fred Potts, Leonard Gibson, George Demarest, Swinton Potts and Paul Silvery. ---- The Macon Beacon, Macon, MS Thursday, October 31, 1968. |
