Obituary*She passed away Tuesday, in Baton Rouge at the home of her son, Dr. William E. Russell. She was born the daughter of William A. and Rebekah Hardy Evans of Sunny Side Plantation, Monroe County, Miss.

Her paternal grandparents were James E. and Emmie Young Evans of Sunny Side Plantation.

Her maternal grandparents were Edward Griffin and Rebekah Allison Hardy of Rosehill Plantation, Lowndes County, Miss.

She graduated from the Aberdeen high school system and took a bachelor's degree in English and speech at Mississippi University for Women, where she was an announcer on the college radio station.

In 1949, she married Ernest Everett Russell. She worked in the department of geology and geography at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville and taught in the public school system in Tennessee while her husband was in graduate school.

She lived in Starkville, Miss., for more than 50 years, where she served as a substitute teacher and was active in youth activities in the Starkville Public School System while her boys were in school. Later, she was an editor for the Curriculum Lab at Mississippi State University.

She is survived by her husband and three sons.1
