Aware of the uncertainty of life & the Certainty of death I Geo. S Hairston of the County of Henry & State of Va make this my last Will & testament. I Give to Son Geo my watch excluding him from any interest in my estate and requiring him to surrender all Clams in his grandfather Martins Estate to his sister, in consideration that he is amply provided for by his Grandfather Hairston.
I give to Son Nicholas my Marrowbone tract of land including that purchased of J T Seawell with twelve working hands & their increase, my blacksmith Tom & his family to be included; also the stock of every description belonging to said farm, farming utensils, in consideration of which, he is to surrender his interest in his grandfather Martin Estate.
The balance of my property to be equally divided between my daughters Sally Lou, Susan, Jane, Betty M. & Matilda Hairston. Each child shall have the privilege of making my residence their home so long as single, I appoint my daughters Sally L. & Susan J. & son Geo. to manage my estate as they may think proper, and that security shall not be required of them. In testament whereof here assign my name & affix my seal this 11th. of December 1862

Anecdote*Pardon from President Andrew Johnson, signed by acting Secretary of State William Hunter III , for George S. Hairston of Henry County, Virginia, for supporting the Confederacy during the Civil War. 
College*He graduated college in 1866 in Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia; Class of 1866.6 
Marriage*He married Nancy "Nannie" Wilson WATKINS, daughter of Peter Wilson WATKINS and Louisa Hardyman HAIRSTON, on 23 November 1869. The following the Index to marriage Notices in The Southern Churchman - 1835-1941...."Hairston, George S., and Nannie W. Watkins, both of Henry Co., Va., by the Rev. Jno. R. Lee, at Shawnee, the residence of the bride's father. So. Ch., Jan. 6, 1870 ". Later they lived at Hordsville..2,7,8,9

Death*He died in September 1876 in Hordsville Plantation, Henry, Virginia, at age 31.2 
Burial*He was buried in Hordsville Plantation Cemetery, Henry, Virginia; There is a grave marker in the Hordsville Cemetery for "GEO. S. HAIRSTON BORN 1846 Died 1879". I believe this is the grave of George Stovall Jr. However, the dates do not match other records.
