Obituary*Samuel Hairston Graveside Rites

A graveside service for Samuel Hairston Jr., 74, will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Berry Hill Cemetery by Rev. Thomas Garner.

Mr. Hairston died Monday in Halifax Community Hospital in South Boston.

He was born at Oak Hill Farms, a son of the late Samuel hairston and Mary Joplin Hairston. Mr. Hairston was a retired farmer. His wife, Sallie Staples Hairston died on July 6, 1971.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Sallie J. Johnson Bullock, Atlanta, Ga; two sons, Samuel P. Hairston III, Burlington, N.C. and Waller S. Hairston, Easton, Md; one brother, Rufus Thomas Hairston, Bristol; and seven grandchildren.

The body is at Townes Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today.
