Death*He died on 15 April 1872 at age 28.1 
Burial*He was buried in Hairston Cemetery, Lowndes, Mississippi.3

 
Deed*On 12 January 1881, Peter C. Hairston purchased from Robert R. Spiers, administrator for Joab E. Hairston, deceased, 59.5 acres land in Lowndes County. FSL #8567121 image 192 and FSL #8567121 image 193.
NOTE*NOTE: There is a Chancery Court divorce case between Joab E. Hairston of Lowndes County and Mary F. Mitchell of Noxubee County, dated 30 June 1869. They were married in 1860. Joab caught Mary with another man and she was pregnant. - Family Search Library Film #8631080, images 692-704.
