Obituary*Final Rites Held For John Hairston at Marlow Church

John W. Hairston died Monday, November 9 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Andrew Ritchie of Brownwood. Mr. Hairston had been in ill health for the past year. He made his home in Milam County, but had been in Brownwood since Agust, 1953.

Mr. Hairston was born April 5, 1882 in Coryell County, Texas. He was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Milton Hairston. Mr. Hairston came to Milam County at the age of 18. He married Miss Elia Garner, December 1910. Mrs. Hairston preceded him in death on April 28, 1946.

Mr. Hairston served as Milam County Treasurer during the term of 1946 to 1948.

Survivors included two daughters, Mrs. Andrew R. Ritchie of Brownwood; Mrs. M. M. Bright of Cameron; three sons, W. G. Hairston, Baytown; Thomas M. Hairston, Crane; and Rush E. Hairston of Cameron; one sister, Mrs. A. B. Cannon of Beaumont; one brother, T. A. Hairston of Rockdale and twelve grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 10 at 2:30 p.m. at Marlow Baptist Church. Rev. John Solomon, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Cameron, conducted the service. Burial was made in the Marlow Cemetery.

Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, A. J. Hairston; O. J. Hairston; A. B. Hairston; Lovell Hairston; Felling Sheckles and L. H. Johnson.

March-Burns funeral home was in charge of the arrangements.
