Obituary*EDWARD WARD, (Ret. LT. Col. U.S.A.F), 75 of Miami, Florida passed away May 20, 2002. Born July 26, 1926 in Memphis, Shelby County, TN. The son of Edward Ward and Ethel Ingalls Ward. Edward graduated from Penecost Garrison, Memphis, TN, Florida Naval Academy, St. Augustine, Florida and University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Col. Ward was a highly decorated military veteran having served in W.W. II, Korea and Vietnam earning over 30 meritorious awards including the Bronze Star.
Edward is survived by his wife, Joy Shelby Hairston Ward, one sister Hazel Jane Ward Came and nephew, Harry Edward Came. Preceded in death, his wife Cherie La Forest Ward and daughter Amelia (Mia) Ward.
Edward was an active member of Coral Reef Yacht Club, Beach Colony Club, Retired Officers Association and Plymouth Congregational Church. He was honorable, humorous and caring, a pure Southern Gentleman, bot admired and entertained by all who knew him. His absence creates a painful void in our lives. He will be greatly missed. Services at Plymouth Congregational Church, 3432 Devon Road, Coconut Grove, Florida 33133, Friday, may 24, 2002 at 2 PM. Burial at Memorial Park Cemetery, Memphis, TN, at a future date.
