It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. Family and friends must say goodbye to their beloved Eleanor Hairston of Columbus, Mississippi, who passed away at the age of 78, on October 16, 2021. She was predeceased by : her parents, Carrie Prowell and Lafayette Fearn Swoope; and her siblings, Celeste "Boo" Swoope Williams, Elizabeth Swoope Reid Wiseman, James "Buddy" Swoope and Edward Swoope.

She is survived by : her husband Nick Hairston, Jr. of Columbus; her children, Ginia Croker (late David Croker) of Colorado Springs and Trip Hairston (Bethany Hairston) of Columbus; her grandsons, Reed, Nicholas and Jack Hairston; her siblings, Lafayette "Teeny" Swoope (Nancy), Thomas "Dake" Swoope (Allene), Dr. William "Bill" Swoope, Frank Swoope (Carolyn), Warren "Oop" Swoope, Walter "Penny" Swoope (Bettye), Charles Swoope (Shirley), Lucy "Boopie" Swoope Beard (David) and Burton Swoope (Tanya); and her nephews, Doug Williams, Preston Williams, Kyle Swoope, David Swoope, Gib Reid, Alan Swoope, Jim Swoope, Gray Swoope, Dudley Swoope, Skip Swoope, Tyler Swoope, David Beard, Jr., Field Swoope and Sam Cammack. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and a number of great nieces and great nephews.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, October 19th 2021 at 12:30 PM at the Main Street Presbyterian Church (701 Main St, Columbus, MS 39701). A memorial service was held on Tuesday, October 19th 2021 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
