Mrs. Robert Hicks, the former Miriam Shelby of Memphis, died suddenly yesterday in Silver Springs, Md. Mrs. Hicks was born in Memphis and, before her marriage, taught in Memphis city schools. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. She leaves her husband; her stepdaughter, Mrs. George Fogarty of Chevy Chase, Md., and two sisters, Mrs. Gentry C. Carroll of Memphis and Mrs. Albert Austin of Charlottesville, Va.
